Citronella Dog Collar Positive Responses

Never in my life have I given a testimonial   This collar is the best thing that ever happened.  We have three dogs, two of which love the sound of their own voice.  It was a real problem!  It seemed that everything would bring on the barking and when one started the other two just had to join in.  At that point they were out of control and it was nearly impossible to shut them up.  When someone actually came into the house, it was even worse.  It didn't matter if the dogs knew the person or not, they just had to bark.  This would go on all day and all night at every little sound.  It was driving us crazy and I'm sure the neighbors didn't appreciate it either.  We tried spraying them with a water bottle, shaking a can with coins, anything humane that we were told would help them and nothing did.  I bought the "Pet Trainer" that is advertised on TV that lets off a high pitched sound that dogs could hear but I couldn't.  At first it helped a little, but I was uncomfortable using it because I didn't want to hurt them.  We are going to put our house on the market and the barking dogs was a real concern.  

Out of desperation, I went on line to look at the different barking collars available.  We have the invisible Fence (another product that has been God sent), so the shock collars were not an option.  First of all, I really didn't want to shock them and secondly, I though it would be confusing for them with the Invisible Fence. I was uncomfortable with the collars that worked by using the high pitched sound I can't hear. I saw the Citronella Anti-Bark collar and ordered it, but didn't have high hopes.  I couldn't have been more wrong !!!

I only ordered one collar, which I received on 4/17/02.  I put it on the dog that loves to bark the most.  She barked once and the collar let off the spray.  She barked a second time and again got the spray.  Miracle of all miracles, there was no third bark.  I tried the collar on the other two dogs and the same thing happened.,  Amazingly, it seems that if we have the collar on one of the two dogs that are real barkers, all three are quiet.  I don't know if that is because they smell the citronella if she happens to bark (which at this point is rare) or what the reason is, but it has been a God send!

I immediately wanted to order a second collar, but my husband was reluctant.  After three days of quiet my husband is convinced and we are ordering a second collar.  Although the one collar on the one dog has worked wonderfully, we want the second collar for the convenience of not having to switch it from dog to dog.

It has been nice to hear the crickets at night instead of the never-ending barking.  Thank You, Thank You, Thank You !!!!!

 Unfortunately, the collar didn't do anything for our dog. I've tried the collar multiple times (went thru the refill can already), but she is very happy to just be barking away. The only effects I can figure out in our case is that we are out $80, and the dog smells like Citronella.

On the positive side, the device has been pretty durable and sits on the dog well. Citronella just didn't work for us.
I bought this as a humane way to get my dog to stop barking at every little noise, but she would bark right through the citronella spray. All it did was make my place smell like citrus. Save your money.
The collar worked wonderfully for the first two weeks. However, shortly after this period my shiba-inu became desensitized to the citronella spray and just ignored it and kept barking. Our dog may just be too smart or stubborn or something, so it may work better on other breeds. Also, it would be better if they made other scents, so that we could try another scent that he's not used to, and keep varying them.
